So after much ado, Mikayla finally decided to make her appearance on 1/12/12 at 2:50am. She weighed a whopping 8lbs 3.4oz (we expected her to be a tad bigger, showing up 10 days after her due date and all), and measured 19 inches long. Her head was 14 in (ouch!) and her shoulders were 13.5 in.
Fun times!
Mommy and Daddy are recovering well after the 15 hours of active labor (not to mention the 4 days of early labor in the days preceding that). Mikayla's mellow temperament has allowed us to get a significant amount of sleep and recovery time. We will see how much longer that lasts :-) Leilani is super excited about her little sister, and between her and Daddy, Mikayla is getting serenaded quite often (which is great, since she is super responsive to music).
We are looking forward to having her meet the extended family and spend some good bonding time with them. Daddy is setting up the banner and we'll post pics of that in the next blog.

Here are the videos to give a little sample of her personality... the first is her only 12hrs old and super alert, and the second is her little cry with Daddy calming her down. Lucky for us that most of her crying ends just as quickly right now as it did in this video.
And here is Baby M with Big Sis Leilani, Leilani was a little freaked out when Baby M was crying. Prior to that she was humming Rock-A-Bye-Baby to her.
